Obituary

Ursula Elizabeth Martin, aka Betty, Liz, passed away May 18 due to complications from strokes and dementia. Preceded by partner James Quigley, who passed in January 2021, leaving behind sons Gary and wife Claudia, and Eric and wife Dawn. Preceded by sisters Tilda Sandberg of San Diego, CA, Eileen Giannotta of Bay Shore, NY, and brother Stephen Stomber of Oceanside, NY and their families. Born in Germany 1939, she came to America as a young child, raised in Queens, NY. Betty had multiple jobs, with the latter being the owner of Sunshine Coffee and Donut Shop in Lindenhurst, which is where she met her love James Quigley. Then she managed the office and repair crew of ABS Pump and Repair in Farmingdale for many years. Betty was a very active woman who enjoyed seeing musical concerts in the area along with Jim. They frequented the WI Public Library to see movies, and various seminars always wanting to learn. Betty was community oriented by serving as committee woman & secretary for the Captree Republican Club, and served over 10 years volunteering by visiting patients at Good Sam Hospital and Consolation Residences, both in West Islip and on the Board of WI Symphony Orchestra. Betty will be dearly missed. She would want all her loved ones to celebrate her life by living everyday to its fullest, as she passionately lived. Her motto was to always be together having fun, and to create lasting memories.
