Obituary

Schaefer – Virginia D., “Mary”, of Port Washington, LI, born on October 16, 1925 and died May 8. 2021. Beloved wife of the late Gregor J. Schaefer, Jr. Devoted mother of Maureen (Kevin) Angliss, Greg (Gloria) Schaefer, Barbara (Mitchell Geller) Schaefer, Susan (Andrew) DiLoreto, John (Tracy) Schaefer and Michael (Nancy) Schaefer. She was adored by twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two loving brothers, Donald J. Donahue and John F. Donahue, Jr. Mary, as she was known to family and friends, graduated from Mary Louis Academy in 1943. She received her AB in 1947 from The College of Mount St Vincent and in 1948, earned her MA in English Literature from Columbia University. In 1980 Mary began her much loved job at Manhasset Library where she worked until her retirement in 1995. Celebration of the Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick’s R.C. Church, Glen Cove, LI., Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 10:00 AM. Private interment to follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Upper Brookville, NY. Arrangements entrusted to The Fredrick J.
