SCHICK - Dr. Robert of Hauppauge passed away April 28, 2021 at age of 97. Born in Washington Heights, NY, on February 23, 1924 to Emma and Oscar Schick. He attended the High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, studying violin. When WWII began, he enlisted in the US Army Air Corps 2 and quickly became an officer. He participated in the landing on Utah Beach and fought in the Battle of the Bulge for which he was awarded the Bronze Star. Bob graduated from NYU magna cum laude and NY Medical College summa cum laude. As a resident at Mount Sinai Hospital NYC, he fell in love with a beautiful nurse, Dolores, whom he married in 1955. He became board certified in Internal and Pulmonary Medicine, served as Chief of Medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital and Director of Respiratory Therapy Dept, and established the first respiratory care program in Suffolk County. He also served as Asst Professor at Stony Brook U. Before retiring, he created a medical outreach program for low-income communities.

.

Bob loved music, painting, photography, and fishing. Many summers were spent at the family cottage on the Sound. Bob was a master storyteller with a wicked sense of humor, and loved to tell jokes. Most of all, he cherished his time with his large family.
