James DeMetropolis, 79, of New York, NY passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2021, surrounded by his 4 children. He was born on April 12, 1941 to Angelo “Andy” and Mary (Chahalis) DeMetropolis in Manhattan, New York. After graduating from Lindenhurst High School, he apprenticed as a lithographer in New York City. Following his apprenticeship, he then went to work at Peter F. Mallon Printing and then moved to Lynn Art Offset. He then became owner of Lynn Art Offset and Ultra Finishing, printing and lamination shops prior to his retirement in 2003. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and his friends. Jim had a knack for making people smile and loved to talk to strangers whether at a public event or one of his kids or grandkids sporting events. He was also very generous with his time, money, personnel support and guidance. He enjoyed his family trips to Hither Hills (camping), Montauk, Fire Island, Great South Bay, Quincy Massachusetts, Lake George, horseback riding, Atlantic City, the Poconos, Arizona, Texas and Florida. During those trips if there was a WWII ship along the way, dad would stop for a tour and a ballcap. Those trips always included name that tune; the music was either big bands or college fight songs! He is predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Nanette “Tuny”. He is survived by his children Mary (Nick Dentrone) of Hauppauge, NY, Susan (Tim Treble) of Massapequa Park, NY, Andrew (Brenda) of The Woodlands, TX, Peter of Manhattan, NY and his sister Constance “Connie” Apikos. Due to the COVID pandemic there will be a private memorial service with his children and grandchildren at this time.
