Obituary

Maureen Greene, 90, passed away on December 15, 2020 with family by her side. Maureen was the dedicated daughter of William and Mary Kivlen and the younger sister of William (Maribel), Joseph (Loretta), and Eileen (Richard Gilosa), all who passed before her. She was a devoted wife to Patrick Greene who also preceded her in death. Maureen was the beloved mother of Mary Anne (Jack), Patrick (Lisa), John (Diane), Joseph (Gay), Thomas (Deirdre) and Robert and cherished grandmother of Sarah, Sean and Matthew Whitney; Patrick, Ryan, Dennis, Michael, and Katie Greene; Brianna and Kelsie Greene; Meaghan, Shannon, Thomas and Riley Greene; and Anthony Greene, Nicole Holbrook and Paul Cheselske. In addition, she will be fondly remembered by her sister-in-law Joan Greene and more than twenty Greene, Kivlen and Gilosa nieces and nephews for her kindness, love for all people, and enjoyment of a party with lots of dancing. She was cherished and loved by many long-time friends including classmates from Mary Immaculate Nursing School, parishioners of St. Joseph’s in Babylon, colleagues at Berkshire Nursing Facility, and neighbors on Raleigh Lane in West Islip where she lived for more than 60 years. She will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or Long Island Cares, Inc. food bank.
