Obituary

John Viaggio, Esq., 97, of Bay Shore, New York, died peacefully on Sunday, October 18, 2020, at Good Shephard Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on August 8, 1923, in Brooklyn, New York, the first son of Patricia and Matthew Viaggio; graduated from Boys High School, Fordham University and Columbia University Law School. John is predeceased by his parents and brother Vincent Viaggio. John is survived by the love of his life Louise G. (Pasquantonio) Viaggio, having celebrated 68 years of marriage in August 2020. John exuded his deep love and life-long dedication to Louise, and professed his love for her to everyone, especially through his storytelling about the day they met and life forward. He is also survived by 3 loving daughters Janet (E. Gregory) Meuse of Lake Grove, NY, Lisa (Robert) Welsh, of St. Simon’s Island, GA and Christina (Robert) Teisch, of St. Simon’s Island, GA; and adoring Grandchildren, Jessica (engaged to David), Stephen (engaged to Maria), Joseph (married to Katlyn), and Michael (engaged to Brittany), and 1 Great Granddaughter, Vanessa. In addition to being a loving and dedicated husband and father, John also loved painting with oils, having a large collection of his work in their home; was a real estate enthusiast; enjoyed a successful career as an Attorney for the U.S. Federal Government; was proud of his Italian heritage, loving Italian Operas and savored good Italian cooking; and had a strong devotion to God and Jesus Christ throughout his long and happy life which he shared with those around him.
