Obituary

After a hard fought battle with cancer, Wayne Michael Sturges, passed away on August 28, 2020 at the age of 66, with his family by his side. He leaves behind his wife, Domenica, their son, Christopher and their daughter, Kimberly.  Wayne  was born on October 19, 1953 to William and Catherine Sturges of New York. He graduated from Stony Brook University with a degree in Economics, and from Adelphi University with a Masters in Business Administration.   Wayne married Domenica Finazzo on October 16, 1982. They lived in Bayside, New York until settling down on Long Island where they raised their two children, Christopher and Kimberly.  Wayne was a driven professional with an unmatched work ethic, which led him to his career of Principal at Bessemer Trust where he worked for 18 years. Wayne was a past Faithful Navigator of St.John 23rd assembly, past Grand Knight at the Delaney Council, and a past officer of the White Cape Association.  Wayne is survived by his wife, Domenica and his children Christopher and Kimberly. He is predeceased by his mother, Catherine  and his father William. Wayne was a loving and devoted husband and father, and he never hesitated to let them  know how much he cared about them.  He cherished the time that he spent with his family and friends, and he will be deeply missed by those that he leaves behind.  Family, friends and others whose lives Wayne touched are invited to the CHAPEY FUNERAL HOME, 20 Hicksville Road, Bethpage New York, from 2 p.m- 4 p.m, and 7 p.m - 9 p.m on Tuesday, September 1st, 2020, to grieve and reminisce.  The mass for Wayne will be held on Wednesday September 2nd at 9:45 at Maria Regina, in Seaford, New York. Wayne will be laid to rest at the Saint Charles Resurrection Cemetery in Babylon, New York.
