Obituary of Thelma Angela Holder-Boza

Thelma Angela Holder-Boza was the last of six children born to Irene and Charles Jones, in Georgetown, Guyana. Like her five sister siblings, she attended Queenstown Roman Catholic School, and after leaving school, studied and completed the course work necessary to become a bookkeeper. She later met and married Simeon Holder, and had one son, Keith Patrick Simeon Holder. Thelma was a sports fanatic and represented her native country British Guiana - now Guyana, at field hockey and cricket. While residing in Guyana, she was the coach for the Guyana Defense Force’s women’s field hockey and cricket teams. Upon her arrival in the United States, she quickly became a member of Atlantis Cricket Club in the late 60s. She loved Atlantis and what the club represents on and off the field. Thelma served as a member of Atlantis’ Executive Board, and was the club’s official scorer, both domestically and on tours outside of the USA. Thelma’s five sisters and two brothers preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, Keith Holder, her daughter-in-law Allison Skinner-Holder, her grandson Everett Hospedales, three-year old great-grand daughter Lyric Hospedales, Simone Holder-Nelson, Allister Holder many cousins, and many, many good friends, including Andilene, Randy and Logan Ramcharan. A Memorial Visitation will be held at The Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons East Islip Funeral Home, 200 East Main Street (1/2 mile west of the Southern State Parkway, Exit 45W). A Memorial and Visitation will be held on Friday, May 20, 2016 from 7:00 - 9:30 PM, with a Religious Service conducted at 8:00 PM.
