Obituary

BABYLON, NY -- Raymond Sylvester Watt, age 58 of Babylon, passed peacefully after being surrounded by the love of so many on August 23, 2019. Raymond (Ray) was born on June 9th, 1961 in Rockville Centre, NY and was the sixth of thirteen children of James J. Watt ¬¬and Joan M. (nee Wayrick) Watt. He spent the early years of his life growing up in Massapequa, NY, where he attended Massapequa High School. Ray was also a 1981 graduate of Johnson and Wales University where he studied Culinary Arts and Chef Training. He went on to dedicate 40 years of his life to the food industry as a chef and chef manager through various positions. In 1984 Ray married his beloved wife, Ali Marie Murray of Wantagh and they were blessed with four loving children throughout their 35 years together. First in 1986 with Dylan James Watt of Sayville, NY, then in 1992 with Helen Brianna Watt of Long Beach, NY, then in 1998 with Haley Rae Watt, and finally in 2001 with Brendan Cole Watt.

.

Ray loved his family more than anything in his life. He was an overwhelming proud father of his four kids, and a loyal and compassionate husband to his wife Ali. He was a dedicated son, brother, and uncle who cherished a good family get-together. He loved cooking and tasting food, relaxing on the beaches of Long Island, coaching his children’s little league teams through the years, and cheering on whoever needed a fan. Ray was a hardworking man who was admirably devoted to his family. He is survived by a very large and devoted extended family: James and Deborah Watt of San Juan Capistrano, CA, Margaret Lynch of Dallas, TX, Edward and Darcy Watt of Towson, MD, Daniel Watt of Santa Cruz, CA, Michael and Sharon Watt of Babylon, NY, Joan and Mike Weaver of Sayville, NY, Mary and Jim Lagnese of Fountain Hills, AZ, Kathryn and Michael Lavin of Babylon, NY, Jonathan and Lisa Watt of Santa Ana, CA, Jeanne and Charles Battaglia of Massapequa, NY, Ann and Mark McCambley of Stamford, CT, Thomas and Regina Murray of Vienna, VA, Kevin and Patricia Murray of Bayville, NY, Marianne Weber of Dallas, TX, Edward and Ellen Murray of Houston, TX, Brian and Jennifer Murray of Baldwin, NY, Richard Weber of Providence, RI, as well as over 66 nieces and nephews and 20 grand nieces and nephews.
