Obituary

Salvatore Peter Bonora , on May 2, 2019. Devoted father of Christopher (Laurie) and Karen. Adoring Poppy to Kevin, Hannah and Cole. Beloved son of the late Peter and Candida . Loving brother of Rose, Lou and John. Dear brother-in-law of Jutor, Cynthia and Rosie. Formally married to Marion (nee Briese) Bonora. Salvatore was born in Brooklyn, NY on January 21, 1927 and was raised in Cedarhurst, N.Y. He attended Lawrence High School and then enlisted in WWII from 1945-1946 and served on the USS Alabama and USS Massachusetts. He returned after WWII to complete high school. Salvatore joined Lawrence Cedarhurst Fire Department as a volunteer and was promoted to Lieutenant from 1947-1961. He Attended Pratt University majoring in Engineering and worked at Sperry Gyroscope Company from 1950-1964. He moved to Bellmore 1961 and worked at Grumman Aerospace from 1964-1992 and worked on the E2C Hawkeye as Engineering Project Leader. Salvatore was an avid golfer and bowler. Poppy lived for his grandchildren and" la familia!"
