Obituary of Dorothy A. Remy

Dorothy Remy passed away on January 01, 2019.  She was a devoted wife to her husband of 55 years and mother to two sons.  Born in Windber, PA in 1941, she migrated to New York where she met and married the love of her life and settled in Babylon, where she raised her family and lived for more than 50 years.  A lengthy career as an administrative assistant with Lindenhurst Public Schools led to a happy, active retirement.  She was a fast friend to anyone she ever met and enjoyed everything from golf to fishing to mahjong and pinochle.  An active member of Saint Joseph’s parish in Babylon, she participated in many charitable causes and groups, including Catholic Daughters of the Americas, her parish outreach program, the local food pantry, and the Saint Vincent De Paul Society.  In 2012 she and her husband were recognized with the Saint Agnes Medal of Service for the entire diocese of Rockville Centre for their exceptional voluntarism and service to the community.  Dorothy is survived by husband Robert W., sons John and Robert M., their respective wives Carolyn and Judy, and granddaughter Shannon.  Visitation will be held 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM Friday, January 4th at Chapey Funeral Home, 1225 Montauk Highway, West Islip, NY 11795.  Mass will be held 10 AM Saturday January 5th Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Babylon, NY 11702, followed by burial at Saint Joseph Parish Cemetery, Livingston Ave, Babylon, NY.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
