Obituary of Luigi Michele DeLuca

~~Luigi Michele DeLuca
11/20/1933 – 08/22/2017

Luigi Michele DeLuca, age 83, West Islip, NY.  Lou was a compassionate, caring person; devoted husband and loving father who died Tuesday August 22, 2017 peacefully surrounded by his family.  Survivors include his wife Ann of 59 years, and two children, Luanne Murphy and Michelle Dell’Orto, two Son-In-laws Gary Murphy and Patrick Dell’Orto, 7 Grandchildren, Rachel, Natalie, Michael, Shannon, Abigail, Christina and Allison.  Dear brother of Josephine Lazarra, her husband Robert, Marie Dwyer and her husband William.

Lou was born in his childhood home in Roosevelt, NY.  He grew up with his mother and five sisters.  He helped the family by working as a Pin Setter at the local Bowling Alley.  While in the Army, Lou attended the Single Corps School and became an Instructor.  After being honorably discharged and working at Fairchild, Lou met Ann and Married in February 1958. He then opened his own business,  Spec Electronics Corp in Farmingdale, NY where he manufactured electrical parts, components and boards.  One of the many parts manufactured was for the Apollos Space Program and the Lem which landed on the moon.  His company was recognized and awarded for zero defects.

Lou’s hobbies included Bowling, Hunting, Fishing, Boating, Aviation, and Model Airplanes.  He was a pilot of the Cessna airplane which he enjoyed flying privately.  What Lou loved most was spending time with family and grandchildren.    He loved and enjoyed gatherings with the entire family which included nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles at his upstate hunting cabin in Gilboa, NY.

Lou was a part of and touched many people in his life.  He will forever be in our hearts.
